Diane M. McKnight, MA, MSW, LMSW, LCSW, ATR
I am happy to provide therapeutic services in a non judgmental, open and safe environment where you can feel safe to express and understand your issues and emotions. I can help in many areas including trauma/Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), grief and loss, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, major life transitions (such as job loss, aging, divorce, major medical/physical changes), spirituality, LGBTQ issues, self esteem and many others.
I provide traditional talk therapy and can also provide non-traditional therapies such as art therapy and sandplay therapy for individuals, families, couples, children and groups. Non-traditional therapies may provide opportunities for my clients to explore thoughts and feelings in ways that are sometimes less threatening then a direct discussion and can also be helpful in communicating thoughts and emotions that are difficult to describe with words. I also incorporate cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness techniques, journaling/creative writing and other eclectic therapeutic approaches and techniques as needed. There are no “cookie cutter” therapeutic approaches that work for everyone. I always tailor my therapeutic plan of care to individual needs, preferences and comfort levels.
You are the expert of your own life experiences and you will be the one that truly directs your path to recovery. I will be pleased to partner with you on this journey. I will use my education, therapeutic experience, along with my professional and personal insights gained from my own struggles in my life to help guide you in resolving issues, reducing symptoms and achieving your personal goals. I will help empower you to work through difficult times.
Learning about ourselves allows us to get in touch with our inner feelings that ultimately leads us to an enhanced understanding of what will allow us to be happier in our lives. I look forward to a therapeutic partnership where I can assist you in centering and holistically positioning yourself comfortably in your personal and professional areas.
